The Sun Lakes selling season is in full swing. Our schedule is busy with all of the community activities, add to that Spring Training games, Spring Breaks, and everything else going on in the Valley.
We have people from all over enjoying this wonderful winter weather!
March is traditionally our biggest month for listings going live. Many snowbirds who plan to sell this year will wait until March and hope for a late April closing so that they can finish the season before moving on. And that is good news for buyers, as our inventory remains critically low. Here is the inventory we have on hand as of this writing:
- Oakwood – 23 out of 3,285 homes
- Ironwood – 5 out of 734 homes
- Cottonwood – 28 out of 2,736
- Palo Verde – 12 out of 1,073 homes
- Sun Lakes CC – 17 out of 2,139 homes
A total of 85 homes out of almost 10,000 makes for slim pickings as they say in the South! Don’t delay if you are considering listing your home this year. Give us a call! We sold 109 homes last year and our average days on market is 36.
Enjoy the beautiful weather as we move into springtime and start to see some of the amazing foliage begin to bloom.
Giving Back: Shred-A-Thons Were A Big Success
Our team held two shred-a-thons in January. The first was in Oakwood for IronOaks residents and the 2nd in Cottonwood for Cottonwood – Palo Verde residents.
Spreading it across two weekends with separate locations significantly improved the traffic congestion.
We plan to do the same next year, so keep an eye on our website Events Page. https://TheKolbTeam.com – you will find a blue button at the top of the page. Click on it and see all of our upcoming events!

IronOaks’ Pickleball Facility Opens!
After much anticipation, we witnessed the January opening of the IronOaks community’s premier pickleball facility. Sun Lakes residents turned out in a big way to enjoy live music, food, demonstrations of pickleball equipment and the chance to watch skilled players take the court in pickleball matches. What a fun day celebrating this new amenity!

Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Spectacular Desert Vision
As realtors, we love a well-designed building. It gets us every time! Architecture is truly an art form.
Did you know one of the rock stars of design, world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, called Arizona his western abode, from 1937 until his death in 1959 at the age of 91? And, of course, he lived in style.
It’s safe to say many of our Sun Lakes residents are familiar with Wright’s summer home, Taliesin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Nestled in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Taliesin West is just as impressive. It resonates with Wright’s signature style of incorporating the natural surroundings into his masterful design. This national treasure was built after Wright, at the age of 70, suffered a bought of pneumonia while living in Wisconsin. He had fallen in love with the Arizona desert after doing work here and knew it was just the prescription he needed.
Sunlight, something Arizona is known for, played a crucial role in the design as Wright believed natural light kept his apprentices in touch with the environment. Giant boulders, beautiful gardens, and spectacular views were incorporated into the design and showcase his masterful talent. This inspiring space was also his workplace. A handful of the architect’s most celebrated buildings were designed in the drafting room at Taliesin West, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Arizona State University’s Grady Gammage Auditorium in Tempe.
Until recently Taliesin West served as the main campus of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture and is currently home to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. It is a working, living, and breathing property that offers guided tours. As an “almost” straight shot north on AZ-101, this 45-minute drive from Sun Lakes is worth the effort! What is a Good Age to Move into An Active Adult Community?
People often ask us the best age to move into a retirement community and the answer is “it depends”. Many envision a 55+ community to be filled with elderly people. And, while we have some elderly homeowners you will see that younger people are moving in ahead of retirement and loving it. Check out this video featuring our very own Trish Kolb highlighting what she loves about living the active adult lifestyle.
