Age is just a number when it comes to breaking world records. Here are some incredible achievements by seniors that prove it's never too late to make history!
- Fauja Singh became the oldest marathon runner at age 100 when he completed the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2011. Born in 1911, this British great-grandfather didn't start running until he was 89!
- Tao Porchon-Lynch held the Guinness World Record for the oldest yoga teacher, actively teaching multiple classes per week until she was 101. She began her yoga journey in 1926 when she was 8 years old.
- Johanna Quaas earned the title of the world's oldest competitive gymnast at age 86. The German athlete continued performing impressive routines on the parallel bars well into her 90s.
- Dorothy Davenhill Hirsch broke the record for the oldest person to visit the North and South Poles at age 89, completing her epic adventures in 2004.

- Yuichiro Miura of Japan became the oldest person to summit Mount Everest at age 80. Remarkably, this was his third time breaking this record, having previously reached the summit at ages 70 and 75.
- Min Bahadur Sherchan briefly held the Everest record before Miura when he reached the summit at age 76 in 2008. Sadly, he passed away at age 85 while attempting to reclaim his record.
- Gladys Burrill completed the Honolulu Marathon at age 92, earning her the nickname "Gladyator" and the title of oldest female marathon finisher.
- Stanisław Kowalski of Poland set multiple track and field world records in the over-100 category, including the 100-meter dash, which he ran in 32.79 seconds at age 104.
- George Corones smashed the 50-meter freestyle swimming world record for the 100-104 age group by 35 seconds in 2018 at age 99 (just shy of his 100th birthday).
- Edith Wilma Connor, at age 77, earned the title of World's Oldest Female Competitive Bodybuilder, showing that strength training has no age limit.
- Carolina Morace became the world's oldest published first-time novelist at age 96 with her book "It's Never Too Late."
- Leonid Hurwicz became the oldest person to receive a Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences at age 90 in 2007.
These inspiring seniors remind us that passion, perseverance, and a positive attitude are the keys to great achievements at any age!

Recipe of the Month
Life-Changing Grilled Potatoes
Ingredients:
- Yukon Gold, Russet, or Sweet Potatoes
- Olive oil
- Garlic, granulated
- Salt
- Pepper
- Optional: Freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped chives

Directions
- Cut potatoes crosswise into ¼-inch slices (you can cut them lengthwise if you prefer, but the smaller size will get crispier).
- Toss the potatoes with olive oil, granulated garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Grill the potatoes in a single layer on a 500˚F grill until they have grill marks and are caramelized on the bottom. Flip the potato slices over and rearrange them on the grill (this will ensure even cooking). Continue cooking until they're caramelized on the other side and tender in the center.
- Transfer the potatoes to a platter and sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped chives, if you wish!

You Probably Celebrate This Quite Often Without Even Knowing It!
What is one of the easiest-to-make foods, great for any meal or snack during the day, and tons of varieties exist? It’s the ubiquitous sandwich, of course! August is National Sandwich Month, but you probably celebrate it for many days during many months of the year.
Contrary to popular belief, the Earl of Sandwich didn’t create the idea of sandwiches in the 1700s – he apparently just loved them and provided the name.

Long before, Hillel the Elder, a Jewish sage, is reportedly the inventor who came up with the dish by wrapping pieces of lamb meat and herbs between unleavened bread (matzoh) during Passover. Asia and Africa also had their own versions. The richest in society really took a liking to sandwiches during the 1700s and 1800s because they could easily be shared among guests, and their one-handed design meant the gambling and drinking wine could continue while eating.
About 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are eaten by the typical American kiddo by the time they graduate high school. It’s a favorite of children and adults alike, and if you haven’t tried one with cooked bacon inside and grilled, we highly recommend you do. Speaking of bacon, the next time you make a BLT, before you cook the bacon strips, weave them together and you’ll have an easier time eating the final product because less of the salty strips will fall out. And speaking of a BLT, have you tried adding avocado to one? A simple tomato sandwich with mayonnaise and a bit of salt is a summer favorite. We could “speak” about sandwiches forever!
There are endless varieties and ingredients from meatless fillings to huge hoagie rolls. They can be delicate (like watercress and cucumber with butter) or hearty (Philly cheesesteaks come to mind). Sandwiches travel well and are insanely portable. In 1965, the astronaut John Young stuck a corned beef sandwich in his spacesuit pocket and then on board the Gemini 3 mission to prank Gus Grissom. What kind of sandwich would you have chosen to smuggle into orbit?

The Kolb Team was great to work with. They have a well-earned knowledge of the real estate market in our area and helped us to be realistic in setting a price. They are good negotiators, kept us informed all the way along and we were very pleased with the final outcome. They are real professionals.
